Crisis? What Crisis? was created for an exhibition supported by IPUT in 2022. This print, featuring one of this property developer’s building sites, explores themes of urban dystopia in in the context of Ireland’s ongoing housing crisis. Drawn from imagery which the artist has manipulated through multiple photo editing apps, this etching forms part of Ria’s ongoing practice, focussing on the mediated ways in which we view the world through contemporary technologies.

About the Artist

is an artist, writer and assistant lecturer at NCAD. She has been a member of Graphic Studio Dublin since receiving their Graduate Award in 2016. Working predominantly in etching and aquatint, Ria’s practice explores the relationship between analogue and digital technologies, the built environment and the subjectivity of memory. Her prints have been shown at RHA, RUA, ImPRESSions Biennale, National Botanic Gardens and SO Fine Art Editions and are included in several permanent collections including Trinity College Dublin and OPW.

As a writer, Ria has had work published by IMPACT Printmaking Journal, Printmaking Today and Pressing Matters. 2023 marked her curatorial debut with exhibition Oscillation, which took place at Graphic Studio Gallery.
